Make a Difference Day - October 26th, 2013
Make a Difference Day is a day to give back to your community - a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors! Everyone can participate. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, Make a Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October. Michigan Tech students have been participating in Make a Difference Day for many years.
In 2012, over 50 alumni and friends across four different chapters throughout the nation joined over 725 students (participating in 51 projects on campus and in the local area) in the most encompassing national day of helping others. Through working with local non-profit charities and groups, alumni across the country organized their own volunteer opportunity for alumni and friends to give back to their communities. Activities ranged from volunteering at a homeless shelter, cleaning local beaches, to helping at St. Jude's Ranch for Children.
This year it's time for you to participate with fellow Huskies in your own communities throughout the world. If you have a volunteer event to submit, please click on the "Register an Organization" link at the bottom of the page. If you would like to volunteer, please select an event from the list below. Most events are expected to last for a couple hours in the morning and encourage all ages and family members to participate. Walk-ins are welcome, but you will receive a free Husky t-shirt if you register by Friday October 18th at noon.
