Want to be a Contact?

Don't see your area on the map, or want to be added to a location as a contact? As a regional Michigan Tech representative, you may be contacted by fellow alumni, new graduates, prospective local students, and other inquiries about Michigan Tech and your local area.

You can also complete a simple online questionnaire for your region through Husky On The Move. This service enables interns, co-ops, new grads and alums to use the knowledge and experience of the Tech alumni community to ease their transition when moving to a new area. To submit your responses please visit Husky on the Move

If you wish to become a chapter contact, please contact alumni@mtu.edu and someone will contact you with further information. As the Michigan Tech representative, your name and email information will be displayed on our Chapters website (http://apps.alumni.mtu.edu/chapters).

Starting a Chapter

Connecting with your fellow Huskies

Whether you're in Chicago or Norway, alumni chapters have one thing in common: they connect Michigan Tech grads and friends to their time on campus and to each other. Successful chapters support the university and foster connections among graduates though programs such as social outings, scholarship fundraising, cultural events, and other great activities. Below are the steps a new leader should take to get things going.

Find other Huskies

Begin by searching MTUAA's online alumni directory at huskylink.mtu.edu to find out how many alumni are in your area. Contact the Alumni Relations office for a detailed alumni demographic report of your region.

Plan Your First Event

We suggest you keep your first event simple, inexpensive and, most of all, fun. Gathering on a Friday or Saturday evening at a local pub usually draws a large audience. The Alumni Relations Office will help market the event with email, postcards, and online HuskyLink event registration.

Events at existing venues are easiest but may require more time and some money upfront. Again, your Alumni Relations staff can help with the event planning and deposits if needed.

At the Event

In addition to providing you with nametags and giveaways (pins, pens, bumber stickers, etc), a Michigan Tech representative may be on site to provide an brief update or presentation on the Universty (if staff and venue space available).

At this first event, try to identify those who are willing to help as a chapter volunteer. As best you can, encourage networking by asking guests to share a story or say a few words about their tech experience.

What Happens Next

Now you may have a few other volunteers in the area. Stay in contact with each other and with the Alumni Relations Office to think about your next event or activity.
